Bodybuilding & Human FitnessKnowledge - Articles: The Challenge
Come On Then...Are You Up For The Challenge?By Gary Vurnum What three words would you use to describe the last year of your life? How about: Challenging, Exciting, and Successful? No? Well, these were the three most popular words used by fifty of the top Internet 'people' in the UK. In fact - Challenging and Exciting were joint-top, with Successful a little way behind. Other responses included - hectic, fulfilling, stimulating, growth, and eventful. Wouldn't you like to use these words to describe your year? True, there was the odd painful, tiring, and busy thrown in for good measure...but, on the whole, the general opinion of these achievers was that the last year had been a positive one. This was despite some very difficult times for Internet businesses. So...what does that say to you and I? Well, for one, it shows that successful people view life differently from those of us who aren't so happy with our lives. For a start, you will very rarely hear them say how unlucky they are, or how they can't do something because somebody else won't 'let' them. They just get on and DO IT. With a twist. They know (whether they realize it or not) that in order to succeed in this business you need to constantly challenge both yourself...and others. How? Well, it's easy really. Here's how it can work for you. 1) Decide on a small goal that you would like to achieve. (such as going a week without chocolate, or completing all of that leftover paperwork.) 2) Challenge yourself to achieve it by making it as public as possible by telling as many people about it as possible. 3) Make the path to success easier by working out what will get in the way. (i.e. throw all of the chocolate away, or don't schedule anything for the time you have set aside for a task) 4) Make a 'bet' with yourself that you will pay a penalty if you don't achieve your goal. The trick is to make it really horrible! (such as going for a run every day for a week, or cold-calling 25 prospects every day.) 5) Finally, make a DECISION that you WILL do it. After all, if you cannot achieve a small goal...what hope is there for you for the bigger goals in life? By challenging yourself to succeed, you give yourself that competitive edge that most of us lack when mundane tasks are involved. I am challenging YOU to do something, anything, this week that will move you forward in some small way. Are you up for it...do you take up my challenge? To our Success!
