Which varieties of HIV does the test detect?

There are several known varieties of HIV. When testing, make sure that you test at least on presence of antibodies against HIV-1 and HIV-2 and preferably also HIV-O. The Health Diagnostics HIV Test is highly accurate in testing for all these three varieties. 

When to test for HIV infection?

If you have reason to suspect a possible infection of yourself or your sexual partner(s), it is wise to take a test. We advise you to wait 3 months before you do a test because although most people will manifest detectable antibody levels within 30 days, a significant percentage do not show these antibodies until about 90 days.

How does the Health Diagnostics HIV test work?

The Health Diagnostics HIV test detects antibodies that are made by the human body to fight infections with HIV. After infection with HIV, the human body produces antibodies to eliminate the virus. The problem with AIDS is that the HIV antibodies cannot eliminate the virus itself.

Can I buy these test kits in a shop or pharmacy?

The 1-Minute Self Test Kits are available over-the-counter in the Netherlands and some other countries in Europe. They are not available over the counter in the USA and can only be ordered on the internet.

How are the test kits shipped?

The test kits are shipped from Europe by airmail in a plain white, padded, envelope, each of which can hold no more than 2 kits. The envelope might have a customs sticker on it that says, "personal health care product". There are no markings on the package to indicate its specific contents.

How long does it take to receive the kit?

All kits are shipped from Europe by airmail and it normally takes between 3 and 5 days to arrive at European destinatioins and 6 and 12 days for the shipments to arrive anywhere else in the world, including the USA.

Are the 1-Minute Self Test Kits government approved?

The Health Diagnostics test kit is approved for sale in the EU (European Union). They are not FDA approved. But then, there is no other real self-test in the world that the FDA has approved or is likely to approve - regardless of its accuracy or dependability. There is one product that calls itself "Home Access" that is FDA approved but is not really a self test. This product requires you to take your own blood sample, send it into their lab and wait for a week or more for the results. Positive results are reported.
